Personal Metaphor

I'm a Foul Ball waiting to be a Home Run

The reason why i chose to be a baseball sitting next to a foul line is because baseball is all what i did my whole life. The reason why i chose that metaphor is because i really do feel like that. I feel like I'm nothing right now just like a foul ball, I'm not a known person like a foul ball people don't care about a foul ball. The metaphor says "waiting to be a home run", that's what I'm doing is waiting to be big/known. A lot of people like home runs and know home runs and that's what I'm waiting to be, like a home run and being known by everybody.

The things i did well on this project is i think i did myself very well. i kind of do look like a baseball sitting next to a foul line. Other things i think i did well were putting the people in the background and making it look like it was a real game. Some of the things i think i could of done better is make my self look more round like a baseball. In this project nothing was really difficult because i knew how to do a lot of things already but, the hard part was knowing how to make myself into a baseball. I looked at a lot of tutorials and couldn't find one. When i was done with the project i think i did very well. Everything looks clean and all the edges look good they don't look like i cut them out.

Shutter Speed

The setting on the camera for the picture perfect is that we had the ISO on 5000 and we had the shutter speed on 15 sec. It was pretty cool working with shutter speed, the reason why is because if you move it makes it look like you were a ghost or something. Also because when we did the light graffiti, i really liked it how you could draw something and it will record it.

ISO: Film Speed

ISO is very easy to use, what it does is it enhances your picture alot and makes it look like a picture with the flash. when i used the flash it really put alot of light into my photo, as i used the ISO the higher the ISO was the more enhanced the picture was. I would rather use the ISO then flash because when they use flash in your face u might skint or make a funny face because of the flash. But, when you use the ISO you wont skint you will look the normal. When you use a fast ISO it wont let a lot of light come into the picture.

Fill in Flash Experiment

Fill in flash is basically a cool way to get rid of shadows in a picture. When you could use fill in flash in pretty much any where, it will get rid of some shadows you have in picture and reveal your skin color instead of a shadow. The third picture is a very good example of fill in flash, look at the last one and see the difference.

Metering

A light meter measures the light in the room. It will enhance your photo's more and see the emphasis. The top picture is a good way of metering it measured more of the computer's light then anything else in the room. The bottom picture it measured my partners skin tone and made her stand out.

Surrealism "Trapped in a Bottle"

In this surrealism picture the thing i did is put me trapped in a bottle under water. I also put the tarantula right next to bottle because he is trying to get me. That spider will do anything to get me even if i was under water. But the main reason why I'm in the bottle is because I'm trapped and i cant get out, and then the spider is trying to get me but he cant because of the bottle, he cant get in.
In the picture the spider seems like it has lungs like a fish because spider really cant go under water. Also it seems like the person is losing air in the bottle because bubbles are coming out. Another thing in the background there are mountains of dirt making it look like its a field or something.
What there trying to state in this picture is that spider's really cant go under water and walk around, they would just die. Also what the artist is trying to do is it looks like the person in the bottle is either scared of the spider or is sad because he is trapped in the bottle and no way to get out.
my opinion on this picture is they tried to make it look very surreal. They did a good job making it look surreal and realistic, a very creative scene. They could of added a little more to it because it looks a bit plain. But overall the whole idea was good and they put things together very good.

Graduation Program

I think i did very well on the wording and making everything visible and easy to read. I also did well on the text placement and size of the words. What i think i didn't do well on this program is the color, i think is should of used more color then just black. Graphic design isn't really hard, the hard part about it is figuring out how to do it and putting it all together. I think the most important part about graphic design is the wording and the background. You need to emphasis what your selling or what your customer wants. Some advice i think you should give your students for next year is use more color nit just one color, also not to use the same fonts to every word.

Alternate Program: Academic Excellence

After looking at all the other program covers and there designs i think i did pretty well with putting all the information i needed on the cover. Also i think i did well on making everything visible and easy to read. But, when i was done and i seen all the other covers and how they designed it i think i should of used different fonts and not the same font for everything. Another thing i think i could of done better is not using so much purple, i should of used different colors that went together. I didn't really struggle with this cover because it was really simple, but i did struggle on how to put it all together. The program cover i think i did better on is the graduation cover, the reason why is because it doesn't really have a lot of purple in it but it does have one simple color. But, overall i think i did pretty good on both of them.

Effects

The effect that i like the best is the emphasis. The reason why is because it makes me stand out alot. Also because there are alot of things you can do when you do a picture like that. The glow picture is cool as well because it looks like a picture from a wedding. Then the cross process picture gives a cool look. You will know what i mean if you are in Ms. Cooks class.

Frames

The picture that i like better is the second one at the bottom. The reason why is because it makes the people looking at the picture think why the model is hiding behind the frame. It gives it a more artistic feeling, like you can actually feel wat he is feeling. What i think i can make the first picture look more artistic is not have all those cars in the bckground. The background is the most important part of the picture. So next time i would make sure to look whats in the back of me to make the picture look more better. I really liked this project we did, if we could do it agian i would try my best to make my other pictures look more artistic.

Balance: Asymmetrical vs Symmetrical

These photo's we took were symmetrical and asymmetrical, we were trying to figure out which way would look better. A symmetrical photo is having mainly everything in a similarity in shape and size. An asymmetrical is characterized by asymmetry in the spatial arrangements of parts. I think by doing this makes the pictures look more balanced and in order. It helps the lookers see the picture more better.

Group Collaboration

I think the most difficult thing doing this group photo is figuring out how we should take the picture with everybody in it. But it was easy for use to figure it out because we decided to use a leading line to make sure everybody is in the picture and that anybody that looks at it will see everybody. If we had to do the group picture again i think we shouldnt really change anything because these came out pretty good, i really liked them and the ideas that are members of the group had.

Haunted Chavez

This project was pretty easy and hard at the same time. The hard part about this is getting the pictures for the this project. The reason why is because you have to get the picture in the right angle for it can make it look like its real, but it was fun doing this project. Through all this when we were brain storming my idea changed when we started to take the pictures. My other idea was for me to be running away from alot more people then this, but my ideas kind of stayed the same and came out pretty nice. I had to make some difficult decisions on this project, some were wether to make zombies or ghost. So i just made a combination of both. also during this project i had a lot of truble, the writing on the wall i wanted to make it look like blood driping but i could figure out how to make it look like that but i just tried my best to make it look real. some of the things i did well on this picture is setting and how everybody is in place. it makes it look like everybody is really at that spot. but overall, on this project it looks like i didnt work on it too hard, it looks like i did all of this in one day.

Critique: Parkeharrison's "Guardian"

What I see in this picture is a man either trying to be a tree or is a tree. To me it looks like he was a tree that is old and doesn’t have leaves or anything and is about to die. Also I think that somebody was cutting the tree down, but they didn’t cut it down they just trimmed it from the sides and made it smaller and this is what was in the inside of it, a human being.
There is a guy standing on two little skinny branches, looks like he is trying to balance on them. He has branches coming out from the back and covering him up and probably helping him trying to balance on those two branches he is balancing on. He looks like a human tree.
I think what this photographer or artist is trying to tell us is people are like plants. That plants live just like people do, or maybe saying that humans want to be like trees/plants. But, people probably think other things of how this picture is.
My opinion on this picture is they probably wanted to be very creative. They used a leading line to lead you to the emphasize. They used the two branches on his legs that he is standing on to lead to him. But, overall this picture is very creative and nice. I really like this picture because I have never seen a picture like this before.

Scary Expressions

When i look at this picture it makes me think of a video game. You know like that video game resident evil or other games people play and kill zombies. Thats what i think when i see it i just want to get a gun and the controller and start to shoot this zombie. But it also makes me think of some scary movies i seen in the past.

when i see this picture it makes me think of what the heck is that ghost in the back doing. Aslo wondering what am i gonna be waving at, am i trying to get a ride from a passing car. but if i made this picture look more scary it will remind me of a scary movie.

Also when i see this picture it makes me think if i have a disease or not. It has me wondering if i would go the the doctor with a face like this i want to know what they would call this disease. But i really like this picture because it looks like i have face paint or something and the eyes they look cool. i would like to have eyes like that in real life it would be awesome.

The Scream: My interpretation

I think the reason why he is screaming is because he just saw something bad happen. He saw one of his friends just slip and fall into the water and didn’t know how to swim and drowned. He didn’t know how to swim either so he just screamed as loud as he could to see if anybody would here him. But nobody heard him scream, so he just stood there screaming his lungs out until somebody did here him.

Creative Me

This project was an opportunity for us to put the tools we have learned to use. We were to take one of our portraits, and change it creatively using the following: selection tools, layers, adjustment layers, layer styles, blending options, paint brushes and opacity.
The thing i like the most about my picture is the way i changed all the colors on my clothes. But the main reason why is because it looks real, people would probably think that there is really vans that color. the tool i liked the most is the brush tool. the reason is because you can paint anything u want and make it look like its original. but i think i need to work on my photo shop skills a little more.

Adjustment Layers

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photo shop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible.One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle.

The process of doing these photos is it took us about a week to take these pictures. It wasnt that hard to take these pictures but it was difficult to get different ideas. That was the hard part because you dont want to take other pictures like the other ones you took. The picture that i liked the most is my extreme anlge picture (middle). The reason why is because it makes me look like im sad or lonely. But overall my pictures didnt come out so good, like the leadings lines picture i think i could of done better.

Contact Sheet

Overall my contact sheet came out pretty good for my first time. Its a pretty good one for being the first time i have ever used it. The things i think i did well on this is how i made the compositional trick go down ward with the T and made it look like trick. The thing i could do next time is have pictures that have more color in them because it came out too white. Also one of the pictures that i liked the best is the Extreme Angle. Its one of the pictures that i would like to print out. Another thing is that i enjoyed is everything about it. I enjoyed doing the whole project it was fun.

Compositional trick #5 Cropping

Cropping is a trick that photographers do all the time, even if they don't realize it. Every time a photographer chooses to cut something out of his/her frame, before they snap the photo, that is in essence cropping. We also have learned tools on Photoshop that allow us to crop an image after we have taken it. When cropping in Photoshop it is possible to improve our composition or change it completely.
The way i changed this picture from my original is that i cut out a little bit of the picture and used a text tool and put my name at the bottom of it. The one i like the best is the one i cropped. The reason why is because it adds more color then it already had and it makes it look more better and professional.

Compositional Trick #4 Extreme Angle

The thing i did to get this angle is i made the model stand on one of the brick walls and i sat on the floor and looked up towards him and captured this picture. What i liked about this picture is the angle of it. It makes you feel like your little and short. But also its the clouds in the background. the things i could of done better is make sure there is nothing else in the picture that doesn't belong. For example in this picture i could of took that shirt out of the picture because people would look at this picture and wonder what it is. the reason why extreme angles make pictures look better is because the way the photographer is. It makes the picture look more exciting and cool.

Compositional Trick #3 Macro

Macro is something that makes your picture look more cooler or better. The thing it does is that it makes the back look like a blear and the front clear. It shows you things that the naked eye cant see. On the top picture it shows the miller sign clear and then it starts to blear in the back. I really liked that picture because it shows the bottle cap a little more clear and you can see the texture to make it seem like you can touch it. The one at the bottom it shows the firehigreant and the back round a little blurry, but it didn't come out right i should of been a little more closer.

Compositional Trick #2 Leading Lines

Leading Lines are lines that lead you straight to your emphasis. Leading lines are suppose to take you through the picture and back to the beginning. But these lines don't have to really be lines they can be anything you want them to be as long as they lead you to your emphasis. In my picture the leading is the cement seat, its suppose to lead you to the trash can but its too far and there are a lot of things in the back of it.

Compositional trick #1 Rule of Thirds

The Rule of Thirds is catching an image not in the dead center but it still is the emphasis of the picture. To catch an image in the Rule of Thirds the image has to be on one of the four intersections. The grid shows four intersections which are circles when your taking a picture on the camera.
